A Class of Real Clever Blogs!

Last week, everyone in Primary 5V had a lovely surprise because we discovered that there was an article written about us in a magazine. The magazine is called TES Scotland and you can read the online version of our article HERE.

We thoughwe might see the article appearing because a few weeks ago Douglas came to our school and asked us what we had been doing with our ePortfolio blogs.

At the time, Stuart wrote about it on his blog.

Here’s what he wrote:

 “Hello world, its me again!

We just had a special visitor who was from a news paper company.

He came to see our ePortfolios. We did a power point presentation. He asked us some questions and we answered them. My part in the power point presentation was to tell him about the blogging safety rules.

There were some bits about my ePortfolio, it showed my map, my visitors column and my post about maths.

So our class is going to be in an education news paper.

We might be famous for our ePortfolios after a few days!”

So Stuart was right – well done to all of Primary 5V!

You can read some more from Stuart’s ePortfolio blog by clicking HERE.

He’d love  to get some comments on his posts, too, if you have time 🙂

Our National Poetry Day Friendship Cinquains

On Thursday it was National Poetry Day  and we had a whole school assembly so that all the classes could share the poems that they had written.

The theme was ‘Stars’ and Primary 5V decided to write Friendship Cinquains .

We interviewed a good friend and asked them to describe themselves then we wrote poems.

We wrote them again onto a Powerpoint slide then saved them as a jpeg.

After that we put them all into Photostory 3 then we all voted what music we should use. We got the music from this site.

we’re going to put them on to our own ePortfolios

On Friday we showed them on the big screen to the rest of the school.

We thought they looked great!

Leave us a comment if you like our poems!

Finally …. Some Digital Stories!

Well – as promised here are some of our collaborative digital stories! Have a look/listen and let us know what you think.

We’re going to add them to our ePortfolios as inside school achievements and we’ll write about how we worked together to plan, write, make and publish them.

Here’s Ellie and Rachel’s story.

Bobby, Daniel and Robbie worked hard on their ‘ Deadly Desert’ story

Here’s one about a Snowball Fight from Ross and James

Jamie M decided to work on his own for this ‘Football Match’ story

Finally (for now – we’ll post more soon!) here’s one about a Trip to Paris from Stuart, Faiza and Ellie T

A Short Catch Up Post

Everyone in Primary 5V has been very busy during the first three weeks back at school after the Summer holidays.

One of the things we’ve been doing is working hard to create some collaborative digital stories … they’re almost ready so watch this space 🙂

We’ve also been getting to know our new ePortfolio spaces. It takes a while to set these up and we’re really keen to share what we’ve been achieving inside and outside of school. Meanwhile some of us have been experimenting with our new spaces and we’ve updated them in our own time using the ‘Our News’ categories. Have a look at some of them and let us know what you think.

Ellie R wrote a post about her weekend. It sounds like she really enjoyed it. Have a read by clicking on the image below. Let her know what you think of her ePortfolio so far.

Daniel T has chosen a great theme. Everyone in class likes to click on the different theme effects at the top of his new ePortfolio. He took some time to write a short post about how much he’s looking forward to learning in Primary 5V. Click on his blog image below to pay a visit.

Aimee W has chosen yet another ePortfolio theme and last night she decided to have a go at writing a post from home so that she could tell about her short break in North Berwick this weekend. Click her blog image to read her post – leave a comment if you have time!

A Welcome from P5V – More Bio Poems

Our Bio Poems have been written, recorded and uploaded to our Voki sites for a few days now. They’re all great but we’ve been so busy in Primary 5V that we’ve not had the chance to add some more until now.

Here are Faiza J’s, Ellie R’s and Calum M’s poems for you to listen to – press the ‘play’ buttons to hear them and let us know what you think.

We’ll all find the time to post the rest of our Bio Poems on here soon so that we can introduce ourselves……and we’ll (hopefully) be sharing some other exciting links on here in the near very near future as well 🙂

Primary 5V Welcome You!

This session our blog belongs to the children in Primary 5V.

We’ve been back at school for only a week now and already everyone has created their own avatar so that you can get to know us when we write posts on here about what we’ve been getting up to in class.

We’ve also been busy writing our Bio Poems and they were so great that we decided to record them so that we could share them on our blog.

Have a listen to some of them here and it would be great if you could leave a comment to let us know what you think of them.

The Olympic Torch

Here is a picture of the P7s

The Olympic torch is passing through Skinflats but it is not till after school is finished. So we decided to have our own torch relay for the whole school.

The medal winners got to carry the torch and the rest of the school and nursery went out to cheer them on.

Here is a picture of Primary 6V with the torch.

Here is a short movie about it.

Professor Layton Board Games

This is Olivia and Ellie here. We are going to tell you about the game we made.

It was me (Olivia) that thought of doing it.

We were inspired by the DS game, Professor Layton and the Lost Future. Our game is called ‘Professor Layton to the E to the O’. The E stands for Ellie and the O stands for Olivia.

Just watch the video below and it will tell you more about it.

Please leave us a comment to let us know what you think! Also, if you want to visit our own individual blogs just click on our names at the start of this post 🙂

My Board Game – by Abbie

In class, we borrowed Nintendo DSs and Professor Layton and the Lost Future games.

I made a board game about it and it is full of activities for friends to play.

Watch my video to find out more.
