  1. It’s interesting that in Australia we celebrate New Years Eve more than New Years Day. Nearly everyone has a party or picnic or heads into Sydney city on New Years Eve. On the stroke of midnight, everyone yells and screams and lets off streamers. Usually there are huge fireworks displays in most towns and cities. Then everyone joins hands and sings “Aulde Lang Syne” (is this a Scottish song?). We think that because everyone has been up late on New Years Eve that New Years Day is a bit quiet! 🙂 Often we watch all of the New Years Eve celebrations as they happen around the rest of the world on TV during New Years Day!

  2. Hello AllStars,
It looks like we have a lot in common. I wish we could have your outdoor weather on New Year’s Eve! Yes, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is very Scottish. It was written by Rabbie Burns, I think! You need to make up your own mind apparently! Check out this website .

…. but do you have the Scottish tradition of ‘First Foot’?

It’s something my family have always done. You can read about it on this link.
