I chose E because of Edinburgh Castle. In 1312 Bruce’s nephew, lord Thomas randolph, set siege to Edinburgh Castle the siege went for a long time without success. I got this out of a book about Robert the Bruce. We learned about him when we were finding out about the Wars of Independence.

It was built on a volcano. .

Photo A Day C – Carronshore School

By Olivia and Aimee

We asked Mrs W, our class helper, what she knows about Carronshore School. The school opened in Easter 1976. There was a fire in the kitchen on the first day and all the pupils had to go outside.

The cooker had been wired together wrongly!!

The nursery building was joined to the school and three classrooms added in 2000.

The school used to have a quadrangle in the middle. This was roofed and made into a gym hall.

Photo A Day (B) Is for badge!

This is the second day of photo a day.

The badge was designed by pupils of the school.

All the symbols on the badge are part of things that were made in Carronshore, or industries from the village.

We had a fishing fleet, rope works, coal mines and of course the famous Carron Works who made cannons for the Duke of Wellington.

Photo a Day – “A” for Scottish Art

By Adam R and Nigel C

We took this picture because when we were in Primary 5 we were learning about The Wars of Independence.

In the 14th Century Scotland didn’t want to be ruled by England. We wanted to be a single country to live in peace and quiet.

In Art we used chalk pastels to make pictures of two of the people of the time. They are Robert the Bruce and William Wallace.

Today our Fabulous Trophies arrived! We all saved up for them and Natasha phoned up in class and ordered them. This one is for the winning group. They will be able to have it on their table all week. We are going to take it with us to Primary 7.

The other ones were for the prizes in our Inanimate Alice competition. The winning group chose these trophies.

The runners-up chose these trophies. We got to take them home today.

The group who were third all chose a medal and they chose their own colour of ribbon. They say 3rd and clip on to the ribbon.

Everybody was very excited when they got delivered and it was Jade’s dad who brought them to the school because he works for the delivery company! It was Tommy M who chose F for Fabulous Trophies.
