A Welcome from P5V – More Bio Poems

Our Bio Poems have been written, recorded and uploaded to our Voki sites for a few days now.Β They’re all great but we’ve been so busy in Primary 5V that we’ve not had the chance to add some more until now.

Here are Faiza J’s, Ellie R’s and Calum M’s poems for you to listen to – press the ‘play’ buttons to hear them and let us know what you think.Β

We’ll all find the time to post the rest of our Bio Poems on here soon so that we can introduce ourselves……and we’ll (hopefully) be sharing some other exciting links on here in the near very near future as well πŸ™‚

  2. Hello P5V,

When I saw your blog shown on the Blog Dipping blog, I thought I had to drop in and listen to your bio poems. I think all of them are wonderful ways of introducing yourselves to the world of blogging. You never know how far your words can travel when you blog.

My other reason for visiting was your location. Falkirk brought memories of reading of the 1298 defeat of William Wallace and the Jacobite victory under Charles Edward Stuart in 1746. As well, I have an interest in railways and have read of the railway history of your area. More recently I was fascinated as I read of the Falkirk Wheel for lifting and lowering boats. It’s an incredible structure.

Falkirk certainly has its place in history as Scotland is of interest to me. My mother’s side of the family descended from Scottish migrants who came to Australia in the 1840s. To this day, the descendants are still to be found in the valley where the original family came to set up a dairy farm. Their name is Spence.

Thank you for sharing a wonderful post.

    • Thank you so much for your comment! We really enjoyed reading it out in class today. It was great to read about how our two countries are connected…. and we’re all amazed at how famous Falkirk is on the other side of the world πŸ™‚

One of the topics we are going to be studying this session is ‘Wars of Independence’ so we’ll be learning all about all the historical people you mentioned in your comment. We’ll be blogging about it and we’d love to hear what you think about what we have to say.

Thanks again for your lovely comment!

      • I like your upcoming topic. On seeing Falkirk, the name immediately meant history to me. I have read about the Jacobites and the quest to have a Scottish king once again on the throne.

My curiosity about my family connections to Scotland was aroused so I checked through a large volume of my paternal history compiled by two uncles and a cousin over many years. It seems my father’s side of the family also has Scottish links in history including
King Alexander II “The Peaceful” 1198
King William I “The Lion” of Scotland 1142

One thing I find when we look into history is we are all one big family. If we go back in time, we have connections to so many people in history. Here is a link to an extended comment I wrote for a student asking about family history if you are interested…

Perhaps I’ll have the chance to drop in on your blog and learn about what is also part of my family history.:)

  3. hi mrs v im looking forward to doing my class talk. I made a scapbook about me and my bff’s do you think the class will want to see it because icould talk aboutmy swim club. Witch one do I pick or do I do both?

    • I’m so glad that you’re looking forward to your class talk, Hayley. As long as your talk is about three minutes long, you can talk about anything you want. It would be nice to hear about both topics if you can manage to fit them in πŸ™‚

    • You can write a post, Hayley. I’ll show you how to use the categories tomorrow (you don’t need to use them, but it makes everything more tidy if you do).

  5. Hi Mrs V are we aloud to put pitures on our wiki’s? to make them look better I know how to do it wil it be ok to do that.

    • If you know how to do that, then that would be great. You can show the others how you did it on Monday. Your wiki stories are super – thanks for writing them πŸ™‚
