Primary 7V are involved in an exciting new project called ‘Voices of the World’! Every month we have to complete a task. For September we all made a Voki to advertise the project. Our one is below.
It’s run by Mrs Tonner from the High School of Dundee. This is what Mrs Tonner says about the project:
‘Voices Of The World is an exciting project that will use the voice and sound rather than the written or typed word. All too often we ask children to communicate at a distance using text rather than voice. VOTW will hopefully prove that we can unite and learn from one another using our voices in the simplest way possible. I am looking forward to this challenge ahead of us which will surely motivate our children to learn about other cultures through the use of the voice.’
You can visit the wiki to see all the countries involved so far, and listen to everyone’s message. Just click HERE!
We’re finding out about our local community and a few weeks ago we wrote letters to the new Shore Restaurant in our area. We had some questions that we wanted to ask. The manager invited some of us to come along. You can watch the interview here. Darren, our Cameraman, did a great job (but it’s my fault that I didn’t realise the light from the window would make the video so dark – sorry Darren!)
After the interview, we showed Craig some of the pictures of the Shore Restaurant that we have been sketching with our Art teacher, Mrs Williamson. It’s a lovely building and our charcoal drawings are looking great so far …… so great that we’re to be allowed to put some of our completed artwork on display in the restaurant! We’ll take pictures of them for our blog once they are framed!!
These are some pictures from our visit. We haven’t put any on of the front of the building .. we’ll post these alongside our completed sketches soon!
On Tuesday evening, we’re having a presentation and workshop evening in school so that the parents (and other family members) of the P7 pupils can learn more about how we use our Blogs and Wikis.
To help us prepare for this, we invited some members of Falkirk Council who are involved in working with parents to come to school and we asked them to tell us a bit about what they do.
Listen to the Vokis below to find out who they are and what their jobs involve!
We wanted to find out more about why it’s important to involve parents in our learning. You can listen to our podcast below …
BUT ….. can you please click on their name link and not the little icon (it just doesn’t seem to work)
Please be patient while it loads ….. because we think it’s worth the wait!
The pupils read some Aborigine Dreamtime stories then illustrated them. We uploaded them into ‘Voicethread’ so that they could retell the stories. Some pupils worked very hard at this, but I’ve put it together wrongly and can’t fix it!! I know they’re all waiting for this post, so here goes …..
There are 3 slides.
The first one is by Chloe and FraserM.
The next slide shows Jaydean talking about ‘Guthi, Guthi’ which is really Darcie’s illustration about ‘Minawee’. On the same slide, Darcie then tells the real story behind her illustrations!?
The last slide is Jaydean’s ‘Guthi, Guthi’ illustration – but with no voice because Jaydean has already talked about it on the previous slide …… SO SORRY EVERYONE
They’re still great – well done all !! We’ll post more on Monday – in the correct order, hopefully
(press the little ‘go’ arrow to begin – you can view the slides more closely by clicking on them)
Primary 7V now have their own wikis. Wikis are different from Blogs, because they’re designed to be shared with others. P7V have invited a few people that they trust to share their wiki. They’re all very pleased with them so far!
Nina sums up the feeling of her classmates when she wrote this on her Wiki ‘Front Page’
‘Hello,my name is Nina and this is my pb wiki.I am very excited to have a pb wiki. This is a chance for me to show my work.’
Most have created at least one new page because they were asked to write a report on the events leading up to the interview with Master Bailey. … and what a SUPER job they’ve made of these!! Nina’s can be seen by clicking here
Click the ‘Badges’ below to go straight to Ainsley, Maryam, or Fraser’s Wiki (to open in a new window, ‘right click’ on the mouse)
we’ve been contacted by Webbliworld who asked us to review their website. We’ve only had a quick look, but it certainly has the ‘thumbs up’ so far! Check out the reviews on Rhianne, Ben C and Anna’s Blogs …. or visit our ‘P7 Blogs’ page to read all the reviews
Primary 7V had a REALLY exciting day today! We interviewed Master Bailey who teaches Taekwondo. He teaches some of our pupils and came to school recently to take part in one of our Assemblies – it was GREAT!!
We were keen to interview him for our Blog. When he agreed, we were really pleased and wanted to ask some great questions, so we spent some time with our ’shoulder partners’ brainstorming ideas. We shared our questions with others in the class until we were happy with 5 good questions. We also made up an introduction ………..
The video is uploading now (it was too big for ‘jumpcut’ so is uploading on ‘Google Videos’ which takes a bit longer).
There’s also a ‘Bonus Video’ of a taekwondo demonstration by some volunteers from P7V.
Primary 7K/S at Carronshore now have their own class blog, too. We ‘borrowed’ this picture from their site (thank you Mrs S and Miss K). We know they’ll enjoy their blog as much as 7V. Please have a look at their blog and leave them some comments to welcome them. You will find their blog HERE.
